Green Trails Report: Teams collected 1088 kg of waste in June/July 2023

A team from Google is noticing a perceptible shift in their team dynamics after merely a day’s hike to Skandagiri with Indiahikes. 

“It was not an easy trek. It was sunny, and quite a few participants found themselves outside their comfort zone. Then, through a simple exercise, we nudged them to look at the situation from a different perspective. Instead of responding with panic, we prompted them to respond from a place calm. 

Soon, we noticed a shift. They began appreciating each other’s presence on the trek. It was an incredible shift to witness. They started enjoying the cool breeze in the warm sun, they began appreciating little things about the trek,” shares Urja Joshi, Trek Leader and member of the Experiential Learning team, who led the trek. 

Back in the office, this shift in perspective brought about a noticeable change in their team dynamics. 

"I can already see a change in their interaction," Google's Team Leader Srivatsa Kumar shared with Urja after the trek. 

Since 2016, we have had several reputed companies from a diverse cross-section come on this programme with us. We have seen that in a short span of time—on a trek—the team starts bonding beautifully. This increases mutual trust between team members, enhances their ability to work well in a team, communicate more effectively, solve problems consultatively, and work cooperatively towards a common goal.

This transformation lays a strong foundation for collaborative leadership within the team, which is the need of the hour for most modern work spaces.

Students of La Martiniere College for Girls, Lucknow participated in a comprehensive preparatory to get ready for their trek with us on October 22nd. This trek is a part of their bronze and silver-level IAYP Adventurous Journey.

The comprehensive preparatory session was facilitated by Izzat Yaganagi, Head of Experiential Learning at Indiahikes.

During the session, students gained essential knowledge and skills for their upcoming high-altitude trek. The topics covered included camping skills, camping etiquette, walking with backpacks, understanding the impact of their journey on the environment, emergency procedures and much more.

Uttarakhand: Two days ago, 5 groups of students from IIM-Indore start their trek on five different treks of Uttarakhand. They started the trek in clear weather, but soon dark clouds gathered. 

Today on their summit day, students trekked to the highest altitude of the trek despite bad weather.

"It has been raining continuously since 11:30 a.m.. Around 1 p.m., I received an update from the IIM team that they had successfully reached the summit and were about to reach Chilapada. Some of them had mild headaches here and there, but otherwise, everyone was doing fine. It's snowing up there," shares Slope Manager Varsha More from Dayara Bugyal slope.

"The weather has turned very bad since this afternoon. But it happened after the IIM students reached the highest point of the Kuari Pass trek. The weather went bad when they were descending. It started snowing at Tali campsite in the afternoon," shares Slope Manager Akshay Pawaskar from Kuari Pass slope.

"The weather has turned bad in Lohajung as well. It's been raining continuously for the past 3 hours. The good thing is that the team has reached the Brahamtal campsite after the summit on time," shares Slope Manager Abhishek Tiwari from Brahmatal slope.

IIM-Indore students witnessed the Brahmatal Lake surrounded by a frozen landscape. 

Outside their comfort zone, on a Himalayan trek, students have shown tremendous resilience. After going through all the hardships, they have come out successful, with lessons in teamwork and leadership. 

Every year, more than 150 students of IIM-Indore take part in this carefully designed Himalayan Challenge by Indiahikes. This is aimed at honing their collaborative leadership skills.

On a Himalayan Challenge, overcoming these challenges, day in and day out, as a team, tests and develops their skills of collaborative leadership.

Every year, more than 150 students of IIM-Indore take part in thus carefully designed Himalayan Challenge by Indiahikes. This is aimed to hone their collaborative leadership skills.

5 Reasons Why Indiahikes

Trekking in the Himalayas comes with challenges such as heavy rain, roadblocks, floods, landslides, and permit restrictions imposed by the government. These situations are not within Indiahikes' control. 

Before you register, please be prepared for the possibility that your trek might be called off due to these uncontrollable factors. In such cases, Indiahikes will make every effort to offer you a safe alternative trek. If that isn't possible, we will cancel your trek and issue a voucher for the trek fee in line with our standard cancellation policy.

However, if you would like to receive a full refund of your fee under such circumstances, opt for the Indiahikes Shield while registering. This shield grants you the option to receive a refund in case your trek is cancelled due to external reasons.

Security concerns and government orders often lead to last-minute cancellations in Jammu & Kashmir. While we make all the preparations to run the trek, we cannot guarantee that the trek will run. If such a situation occurs, we will try to organize an alternate trek within J&K or Himachal Pradesh, wherever possible. If not, we will cancel the trek and our cancellation policy will apply.

Such circumstances are under nobody's control, but it's best to be well-prepared.  As trekkers ourselves, we understand the loss that you go through when such circumstances arise. To protect against such circumstances, we have the Indiahikes Shield - where you can avail a return of your full trek fee by paying a small additional charge.

Why you must opt for Indiahikes Shield on Kashmir Treks

Offloading is for those with injuries, health issues or other limitations

For every ten adult members (aged 15 and above) of the group, we waive off the trek fee for one person. Indiahikes will reimburse the said trek fee after you complete your trek.
