There’s no denying that February is a low season for trekking. Not many trekkers are ready to bear the freezing temperatures of peak winter. But the photos we received are nothing short of amazing!
For the February 2025 edition, we've selected the Top 6 Nominations.
Our judges will review these images to determine the Winner and Runner-up. Additionally, there will be a Trekkers' Choice Award, where you can vote for your favorite photo. The photo with the most votes will win this award.
Remember, you only have one vote, so be sure to carefully review all the photos before making your decision. The voting form is located at the end of the nominations.
1. Kuari Pass - Saahil Nawalkha
When we talk about treks in winter, Kuari Pass is the first trek that comes to our mind! And this photo shows why. The trail towards the summit is completely covered in layers of snow. The landscape is nothing short of mesmerising, with everything blanketed in thick layers of snow, creating a stunning sea of white as far as the eye can see.
2. Kedarkantha - Niloy Sikdar
This is possibly the most unique photograph of Kedarkantha we have seen to date. While many pictures showcase the summit climb from various angles, this one captures the entire summit, highlighting the different approaches to the top. Likely taken from a drone, it stands out this month for its rarity.
3. Deoriatal Chandrashila - Saikat Chaudhury
Here is a grand view of Deoriatal, with Mt. Chaukhambha massif and Kedar Dome standing majestically in the background. These grand Himalayan mountains form a stunning backdrop for the lake, making it feel like a place suspended in time, untouched by the world. The combination of snow, greenery, and rugged peaks creates an otherworldly charm, which the photographer has beautifully captured in this photo.
4. Kuari Pass - Srinidhi K Bhat
Here’s a picture that is reminiscent of all the photos we see from Canadian and US National Parks. Kuari Pass, situated within the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, is nothing short of them. On this trek, now and then, as the trail opens up, mountains come into view. These majestic mountains rise above the treeline, their snow-capped summits glowing in the sunlight. In this photo, the combination of the pine trees and the mountain views creates a perfect balance between serenity and grandeur.
5. Kuari Pass - Pravar Joshi
Kuari Pass becomes a full-blown expedition in peak winter. After a fresh snowfall, you see all the grasslands covered in snow, forming vast snowfields. These stretch as far as the eye can see, making for terrific photographs, especially against the backdrop of the big mountains of the region.
6. Kuari Pass - Ankita Majumder
Here’s a beautiful photo of Mount Dronagiri seeming to emerge and disappear from the clouds. As you approach higher altitudes, the majestic peak slowly comes into view, often partially veiled by drifting clouds. It’s a dramatic scene, where the white, misty clouds contrast against the trees and snow, making Dronagiri appear like a silent giant standing watch over the landscape. To capture such a moment is a matter of skill!
We had a great time going through all the photos this season!
After narrowing it down to the Top 6, now it's your chance to pick your favorite and show it some love!
