We are back with the August edition of the Indiahikes Photo Contest, which is open to all. You're welcome to participate no matter which part of the country you are in. You're welcome to share pictures from your Indiahikes treks or treks you have done on your own. 

The theme for this month's open photo contest is Contrast

When we think of striking contrasts, our mind immediately goes to photographs where the photographer has played with textures, highlights, shadows, colors, clarity. 

A strikingly colourful sunset or a stark silhouette against a snow-clad mountain. It could be a macro shot of a soft flower against a thorny bush. It could be a terrific play of light and shade.

Composing such shots is not easy. Timing is everything! Being at the right place at the right time, with a little bit of luck. Or it could be purely your skill as a photographer and masterful editing. That’s why, with this month's theme, we want to see how good you are at your art!

This is an example of a technically sound picture. Watch how perfectly the light falls on the lone soft cloud. The lighting also makes the grass glitter. A play of light and dark lends character to this photo of the Lidderwat campsite on the Tarsar Marsar trek. Photo by Shreenath

Here's another brilliant example of how contrast brings out the scale of mountains in the background. It's a photo from the Phulara Ridge trek taken by Nitesh Kumar.

Regarding copyright: Copyright for all images submitted as a participant remains with the respective photographers. However, each photographer grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual license to Indiahikes to feature any or all of the submitted images in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this competition (with due credit).

We will announce the nominations on our website on August 29th, 2022 and the winners on September 1st, 2022.

Please note that this is a special trek designed for stargazing enthusiasts. The trek fee is slightly more than the regular fee. Know more about the trek here. 

This is a trek specially designed for trekkers above 58 years. The itinerary is specially designed to be different from a regular trek. The trek fee is also Rs 3000 more than the regular fee (Please note this is only for Himalayan treks) Know more about the trek here.

Please note that the family treks are meant for families with a child/children under 14 years of age. If you do not fit this criteria, you can register for any of our regular groups. Read more about family treks here.

You are joining our waitlist. Here are a few guidelines that you should keep in mind:
1. Your chances of getting a confirmation are high, but not certain. 
2. You don't have to pay right now. You will receive a notification upon confirmation of your slot. You will have 24 hours to pay and confirm your booking.
3. We close the movement of WL 15-20 days before the start of the trek.

When we brought out new trails in Indian trekking, safety came with us. Back in 2012, we were the first to introduce microspikes, and two years later, pulse oximeters became standard thanks to us.
