After my successful trekking of Mt.Kailash in June 2012, an idea occurred in my mind to undertake another trekking expedition. Within 3 months I went on searching suitable location for this.
After reading Roopkund Trek details in Indiahikes website, I was convinced that this is the best trek that I could undertake and started preparing for the same seriously and as I am aged 64 years, I did not want to lose this chance.
After leaving base camp at Lohajung, I never had any problem of reaching Didna and the camp there was well organized and comfortable. Second day trek was more strenuous, but enjoyable one as I always adopted the strategy of “Slow and Steady trek” which helped me to trek the entire route comfortably. On the way I enjoyed trekking through the forest and when I reached the greatest meadow Alibugyal, I was excited and administered to my other co-trekkers Deep relaxation exercise lying on the meadow and watching moving cloud which was an experience of my life. Walking through the meadow was a heavenly experience.
Arrangements made by Indiahikes at Bedni Bugyal and Bhagwabasa was comfortable. As we had snow fall and rain on the night of our stay at Bhagwabasa, temperature plummated to -3 C and we were provided with special sleeping bag, night passed comfortably.
The last leg of our trekking to Kaluvinayak temple and further to Roopkund was breathtaking experience. Slippery track, steep hikes made some of our co-trekkers to abandon trekking. I did not look back but simply proceeded climbing. Indiahikes guides Mr.Brahma, Vijayakumar provided excellent hand held support to me and witout their assistance, I could not have reached the summit. My sincere thanks to all Indiahikes guides with special mention to Babloo Bhayya who was very helpful and kind to me. Food provided was very good and warm also.
Now I look for my next trek of Seven lakes in Kashmir and valley of flowers with Indiahikes. Waiting for June 13 for this experience.
