Where can I get a medical certificate?

You can get your medical certificate in any clinic/hospital in any of the cities you land in. The process is fairly easy 🙂

Goechala has different rules for foreigners. What are they?

Permits required for foreign nationals for the Goechala trek

  1. The ILP (Inner line Permit or Sikkim permit) for foreigners. Check this link for more details – http://sikkim.nic.in/homedept/ilpfaqs.htm. You can obtain these outside the Bagdogra airport or at the checkpost before entering Sikkim from Silguri. This has to be obtained by the trekkers.
  2. Trek permit for all trekkers – Obtained at the forest check post at Yuksom. Fee varies for students (id card required), regular Indian citizens (id proof required) and foreginers.
  3. Special trek permit for foreignersForeigners need to obtain a special permit at Gangtok to trek in Sikkim. Indiahikes can help you obtain this permit. Kindly reach Yuksom a day before the trek batch starts. The charges of obtaining the permit will be Rs.2,000 per person and has to be paid to our representative who will meet you at Yuksom.
  4. Single foreigners are not allowed to trek in Sikkim. You need to be at least 2 people.

p.s: If you find these rules are too hard, take a look at our Gaumukh Tapovan trek (known for its big mountain views) in Uttarakhand or the Sandkphu trek in neighboring West Bengal. Its a lot easier to trek there.

Do I need any special permits for my trek?

For most treks, special permits for foreigners such as Everest Base Camp, Annapurna is taken care of by Indiahikes. The only treks where you require special permits are Goechala and Talle Valley.
