Quick Update: It’s finally snowing on the winter treks!

It’s finally snowing on our winter treks. We received calls about snowfall from Deoriatal, Kedarkantha and Kuari Pass. Here are detailed updates.

“It’s snowing at all campsites,” says Abhirup our Trek Leader who is currently leading the Kedarkantha trek. “Juda Ka Talab, KK base, the summit and Hargaon have two inches of snow. The sky is dark and packed with snow-laden clouds. It’s freezing and very windy, especially at the summit. Mahi could not let his trekkers stay there for more than 5-7 min,” he said over a quick phone call.

From Chopta, our Trek Leader Karthik called us and put us on speaker. All we could hear was trekkers squealing with excitement. “It’s been snowing at Chopta for a while. By evening, there will be around 2 ft of snow,” he roared over the crowd. Here are a few pictures he sent

Kuari Pass

It’s snowing at Kuari Pass too! Our Trek Leader Chaitan says, “The temperature has gone down drastically. The Padiyar campsite (first campsite) is the the coldest and extremely windy. On 25th, Khullara experienced snow fall for a good half a day, but then it was too windy. I don’t think it might snow again for a while.” Chaitan found water frozen in his bottle this morning, but today, the weather has cleared up and the sun is shining bright. Here are some pictures.

Points to note

  • It’s raining at the foothills, in Rishikesh and Haridwar. A poncho is a must.
  • The cloudy weather is here to stay for around five days. The temperatures are very low. You need five warm layers.
  • Flights to Bagdogra have been delayed due to bad weather. So be prepared for some delay and make back-up plans if necessary.

We’ll post more pictures soon! Stay tuned to our website!
