About Programme
The Indiahikes Social Immersion Programme supplements college curriculum with real-world learning. The programme gives students a first-hand understanding of social realities and the invaluable opportunity to engage with rural communities living in ecologically-sensitive areas.
Students spend a defined period alongside local communities. Activities can include volunteering with NGOs, participating in rural development projects, or understanding the gravity of environmental degradation and climate change.
Outcomes
- Developing Empathy and Social Awareness: Students experience realities often unseen in classrooms, which broadens perspectives and encourages social responsibility.
- Building Practical Skills: Apply theoretical knowledge in real-world situations. Students hone critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills while working on community projects.
- Leadership Development: Students learn to navigate complex situations, take initiative, and work effectively with diverse groups of people.
