Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you are an amateur looking to learn about stargazing or an expert astrophile looking to observe some of the greatest celestial shows, this trek is for you.

Joining this trek means getting to spend 6 days together with like-minded people who enjoy stargazing as much as you do.

For stargazing, we choose treks that have open views, and have a vantage point like a ridge from where you can witness the starlit sky. We started our stargazing treks from Brahmatal trek, where you camp on the ridge, at Tilandi. It is one of the best-known campsites for stargazing in the Himalayas.

Another trek that we have chosen for stargazing is the Phulara Ridge trek. On this trek too you have open vistas, a stunning ridge and campsites that are great for observing the night-sky.

The trek leaders are trained rigorously to be able to execute this experience.

Yes, you can. Both the southern Indian treks that we run out of Bangalore have their bases far from the city. Here the sky is clear and without any pollution. However, to spot stars, you also have to have the weather gods on your side.

The itinerary will be same as a regular trek. We have selected a few campsites that offer exceptional views. Your trek leader will be facilitating the experiences on such selected campsites and according to the weather.

On this trek, you will meet many such enthusiasts like you. You can discuss advanced topics and theories with your trek leader and other interested co-trekkers too.

On an Indiahikes stargazing trek, there is no compromise on safety

Stargazing at midnight in the Himalayas is a very profound experience. While the vast night sky is a welcoming sight, the realities on ground might be different. A slight rain during the day can take the temperatures to sub-zero. It requires meticulous planning and years of experience for a successful stargazing trek. An in-depth experience like this is only possible when we have your safety in place. Have a look at this article to know how we do it.
