“Bloody Hell!” means a lot of things to us.

Standing on top of a summit, looking down at the panorama below, the only word that comes to our lips is, “Bloodyhell, what a view!”

Milky way in the night sky – Bloody Hell!

Hot Gulab jamuns after dinner – Bloody Hell!

Snow fall on the trek – Bloody Hell!

Getting to the summit after an exhausting climb – Bloody Hell!

Every “Bloody hell “entry earns 100 Green trekker points. The winning entry earns 300 green trekker points.

By the way, 1000 Green trekker points can be redeemed for a privilege pass for your next trek. A privilege pass assures you of a position in the trek even if the batch is full.

You also earn green trekker points this way:

1.   Writing a trek blog earns you 300 Green Trekker points

2.    Participating in the Kedarkantha photo contest earns you 200 Green trekker points. Winning it gets you either 750, 500 or 400 Green trekker points!

Kedarkanta trek December 2013 – Bloody Hell Moments!!!

Abhishek Mandal’s awesome BH moment!!!

As most of my teammates would be aware I have done nine solo treks and 3 in group out of which most are classified as moderate to difficult. So given the experience Kedarkantha was supposed to be a child’s play for me but I really got a good challenge during the climb which I enjoyed thoroughly. Since August, 2013 I suffered from two back to back complex accidents because of which I was quite inactive till few days before the Trek so physical fitness was in the bottom  and on top of that the day we did Summit I got late in getting ready and skipped my breakfast. Usually not having breakfast is no big deal for me but given the trek through snow that went above knee in most places I started losing energy fast. By the time we reached the foot of the Kedarkantha Peak I was completely drained and was finding it difficult to even take a step. However though the route didn’t have much of a challenge this was the moment, the challenge that made the trek interesting for me. I had the target set and I had to tread through somehow and anyhow. I held myself and continued to move ahead slowly but steadily and finally made it to the Summit. Yes, the Summit was the Bloody Hell! moment for me. The 360degree view of the Sahyadri range, the happiness of achieving the set target and moreover winning over my physical limitations made the Kedarkantha Summit myBloody Hell!!! moment. Trekking for me always has been about knowing myself better, exploring my limitations and winning over them and this trek proved a success again. Although I knew I would do it no matter what but I would still like to pass on my Thanks to Jaggi Bhai for being a great motivator and pushing us ahead when we were losing the will.

 Vikram Verma’s BH moment!!!

“29th May around 10:30am

Reached KK summit, walked along a ridge to a secluded spot, where I could neither see nor hear anyone. Sat on a boulder with my back resting on it and my legs folded against my chest. BH there was something there that was appeasing all my senses. That virgin breeze brushing against me. That wide panoramic view of naked snow-clad peaks and deep-valleys, revealing their infinite beauty. That absolute silence echoing in my ears. Totally stunned me. Humbled by the mighty Himalayas, felt no more than a speck in the whole eternity.  So sensuous. So mesmerizing.  So ethereal.  So pristine.  Felt as if I belonged there. Felt as if I have missed something in life.

Felt a deep urge to stay there.  Bloody Hell!

A hot-cappuccino or a chilled-beer would have made it just perfect but nevertheless that was no less than a BH moment for me. Hope to have many more.”

Cheers!!!”

Girish Nathan’s BH moment!!!

“Some good BH moments by everyone. A few that actually made me exclaim that gorgeous phrase were :

1) Asking Manish at KK base camp what was for breakfast and being told in a nonchalant tone, “Poori Chole”! Really?! At 11,270ft? –  Bloody Hell!

2) Exiting the summit ridge and getting to the final rope and walking all Tenzing Norgay-like holding it very gently, then getting almost to the end and seeing a gigantic (neverending?) gaping hole in the snow and suddenly realising why the rope had been put there in the first place! –  Bloody Hell!

3) Sliding down big slope number 1, deciding to creatively decelerate using my hands and legs, and suddenly starting to tumble down unstoppably as opposed to gracefully sliding down, and being worried enough to chuckle manically –  Bloody Hell!

4) Seeing the yamuna river for the first time during the drive, thinking it must be some river with an exotic, unknown name, and then being told it was the Yamuna. Really? That same slimy, polluted, slimy mess that flows past Agra?! –

Rahul’s BH moment!!!

“1) Enroute to Sankri, three ‘regal’ mountain eagles, one by one….riding the current…within 40 ft,  teasing, posing, imposing, mesmerizing  –  Bloody Hell!

2)Reach Sankri…sun setting….the moon so large and orange (like it’s blushing), almost ‘studded’ on top of the snowy peak…..feel poetic after a long time  –  Bloody Hell!

3) Feeling something warm nuzzling against me in the middle of the cold night at KK base camp….mmm feels good…i wake up to realize it’s the dog trying to muscle in into the tent –  Bloody Hell!

4)The climb from KK base camp to summit, blanket of fresh snow, no footsteps, not a speck of dust….perfection, purity, poetry –  Bloody Hell!

5) Coming down from KK summit, sliding down in cascades with ease…..felt like i was born to do this –  Bloody Hell!

6)Hargaon morning, warm sunshine, chai, sheep, horse, cows, pics & clicks, hot porridge, warmth & joy in our hearts – BH!

7)Last night at Sankri….the 4 kilo chicken….felt like a ceremonial, communal feast of olden times, the taste still” lingers on!!

 Ramya Hegde’s awesome BH moment!!!

“Here are some of mine..

1. Perfect pearly moon smiling above a mountain the evening we reached Sankri – Bloody Hell!

2. Waking up at 4 am at Base Camp with immense bowel pressure, but stood transfixed at the sight of the moon peeking out from behind the trees – Bloody Hell!

3. Realized my bowels are still under pressure, so upon half running, half trotting to the “toilet”, realized it was blown away. So, pulling it into its position and making a “kaam-chalaooo” tent at 4 am, in the numbing cold: Oh, – Bloody Hell!

4. The pristine, divine slopes on the way to the summit, the unending stretches of snow all around upon reaching the summit:

Vishruti Jhakar’s BH moment!!!

 18.32 hours…

And what the heck is that? A FULL MOON RISE!!-

That moment when you are awe-struck, dumb-struck.. and juststruck-struck.. And you think, nah its not real! But lets face it, it is as real as it can ever get! And you feel small… totally encaptured and mesmerised with the beauty thats in front of you and you just don’t want to let that moment go, that beauty engulfs you.

If only I could get lost.”

 Sourav Bhar’s BH moment!!!

@ 10 pm, Kedarkantha Base Camp, 03/28: “- Bloody Hell! There’s a dog sleeping in our tent!”

Swaraj’s BH moment!!!

“When I awoke up in early morning of 29th,went for toilet…with pressure…,saw the temporary toilet flown away with its stands and the hole was stacked with fresh snow due to snow storm in night. Now think about the ” Bloody Hell! ” with Swaraj. what and how she  solved the BLOODY HELL.”

 Neeta’s BH moment!!!

Someone during the way down to Sankri: ”We were wondering if you were dead after the slide”
