Our Adventure Therapy Trek is led by a trained therapist, who will guide you through reflective and therapeutic exercises during the trek. To accommodate this expertise, the fee is ₹5,000 higher than our regular trek fee. Know more about the trek here.

The Indiahikes Summer Camp aligns with the Adventurous Journey of the IAYP programme. Our treks provide a challenging outdoor experience where participants plan, train, and trek in an unfamiliar environment. They develop teamwork, leadership, and resilience while navigating trails, camping, and engaging with nature—fulfilling all the requirements of the IAYP Adventurous Journey.

You are joining our waitlist. Here are a few guidelines that you should keep in mind:

The chances of getting a confirmed slot totally depend on the cancellations we receive from confirmed trekkers. The cancellations cannot be predicted hence are uncertain.

We close the movement of the waitlist 7-15 days before the trek starts.

You don't have to pay right now. You will receive a notification upon confirmation of your slot. You will have 24 hours to pay and confirm your booking.

We are known for our pioneering safety practices in trekking. Microspikes, oximeters, and BP checks became standards thanks to us. In the mountains, emergencies don't care who you're with—everyone knows that when trouble hits, you look for the yellow tents of Indiahikes. More than 30,000 trekkers trek with us every year. In addition, our outdoor learning division (InSoul) has participants from the who’s of the education organisation in India, from the IIMs to BITS to top international schools. More than 5,000 participants from these institutions trek with us annually. We do not spend a single rupee on advertising to get these participants. Our reputation precedes us.

We are pioneers in trekking. Since 2007, we have documented and brought out most of India’s famous treks: Roopkund, Rupin Pass, Buran Ghati, Kedarkantha, Kashmir Great Lakes, Tarsar Marsar, Phulara Ridge—the list goes on. In 2023-24 alone, we brought out nine new treks in Indian trekking. We know treks better than anyone. This comes directly from the reason why Indiahikes was born: to bring out trek information and enable trekkers to trek on their own. We believe everyone must trek.

Trekking comes with uncertainty. Weather, terrain, and setbacks are part of the journey. We embrace them with resilience and openness—each challenge makes us stronger and more appreciative of nature's beauty.

Trekking is not a solo act. We wait for each other, share burdens, and uplift teammates. By putting the group first, we build strong bonds and help everyone complete the trek joyfully.

We train well before our treks. This helps us walk longer, handle emergencies, and contribute to the team. Fitness ensures we are never a burden and always ready to help when needed.

Trekking in the Himalayas comes with challenges such as heavy rain, roadblocks, floods, landslides, and permit restrictions imposed by the government. These situations are not within Indiahikes' control. 

Before you register, please be prepared for the possibility that your trek might be called off due to these uncontrollable factors. In such cases, Indiahikes will make every effort to offer you a safe alternative trek. If that isn't possible, we will cancel your trek and issue a voucher for the trek fee in line with our standard cancellation policy.

However, if you would like to receive a full refund of your fee under such circumstances, opt for the Indiahikes Shield while registering. This shield grants you the option to receive a refund in case your trek is cancelled due to external reasons. 

Why you should opt for Indiahikes Shield 

Security concerns and government orders often lead to last-minute cancellations in Jammu & Kashmir. While we make all the preparations to run the trek, we cannot guarantee that the trek will run. If such a situation occurs, we will try to organize an alternate trek within J&K or Himachal Pradesh, wherever possible. If not, we will cancel the trek and our cancellation policy will apply.

Such circumstances are under nobody's control, but it's best to be well-prepared.  As trekkers ourselves, we understand the loss that you go through when such circumstances arise. To protect against such circumstances, we have the Indiahikes Shield - where you can avail a return of your full trek fee by paying a small additional charge.  

We suggest you opt for the Indiahikes Shield, which will protect your trek fee during such uncertainties. You will find the option during the registration process.

Why you must opt for Indiahikes Shield on Kashmir Treks

When you offload, a mule or porter will carry your belongings.

Offloading is for those with injuries, health issues or other limitations

We will provide you with a weather-resistant kit bag to transfer your belongings.

The kitbag will be carried by mules or porters.

You will not need a backpack if you're offloading. However, you will need a small day pack.

For every ten adult members (aged 15 and above) of the group, we waive off the trek fee for one person. Indiahikes will reimburse the said trek fee after you complete your trek.

The Complete Guide to Sathuragiri Hill Trek

Sathuragiri Hills, also known as ‘Chathuragiri’, is located in Thaaniparai village, 45 kilometres from Virudhunagar city in Tamilnadu. The Sathuragiri trek is one of the most sacred treks in Southern Tamilnadu. It is a Western ghats trail that falls inside the Grizzled Squirrel Wildlife Sanctuary (UNESCO Western Ghats World Heritage Site).

The trek is known for its rough and challenging terrain that gives you an adrenaline rush. You will also experience the expansive and serene views of the Western Ghats as you make your way to the top.

The trail is popular among devotees who take an arduous journey to pay their respects to Lord Shiva (Sundara Mahalingam and Santhana Mahalingam temples) that has been in existence for over 2,500 years.

Sathuragiri is also known as an Abode of the Gods. The name Sathuragiri is derived from the Sanskrit word Chathur, meaning four, and Giri, meaning a hill. According to the Shiva Puranam, the four Vedas (Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda) combined to form this mountain, and hence the name Chathuragiri.

Sathuragiri has another interpretation since the surrounding hills are shaped like a Chathuram (Tamil for ‘square’), hence the name.

The Sathuragiri Hill trek offers adventurous trekking trails, rich flora and fauna, and a magnificent view of the Western Ghats.

The Sathuragiri hill trek is a moderate trek that can be completed in 2-3 hours by fit trekkers and in about 4-5 hours by beginners.

Best Time to do the Sathuragiri Hill Trek

Things to Take for the Sathuragiri Hill Trek

The ‘Kona Thalai Vasal’ climb is considered the most difficult section of the trek. At the same time, it is the most adventurous part of the trek. Kona Thalai Vasal is a Z-shaped steep trail that stretches for about 1 kilometer, but the climb through irregular rocky sections surrounded by dense forest with a stream running in the valley on your left surely gives you an unforgettable experience.

Sathuragiri hill is a habitat to diverse and rich fauna. It is recognised as an important bird area since it is located inside the Grizzled Squirrel Wildlife Sanctuary. There are around 275 species of avifauna documented here, including 14 endemic species.

Throughout the trail, you may witness a variety of birds and flowering plants, and you can find several rare herbal plants here.

The Sathuragiri endpoint is located in a depression that is surrounded by densely covered forests of the Western Ghats. You’ll be joyous to see such lush greenery surrounding you from all sides.

Sathuragiri hill trek can be divided into four sections.

Sathuragiri Start Point to Kona Thalai Vasal

Rettai Lingam to Pilavadi Karuppar Temple

Section 1: Sathuragiri Start Point to Kona Thalai Vasal

Trek Distance: 2.1 km 
Trek Duration: 1 hour

The Sathuragiri trek starts from the beautiful village of Thaaniparai. As soon as you step off the bus, you’ll find a straight road ahead of you. Continue straight until you reach the base of the hill.

If you are coming in your own vehicle, there is a Parking lot to the left of the base.

Note: Parking for two-wheelers costs Rs 10 for 24 hours, while parking for four-wheelers costs Rs 50. There is also a changing room available free of charge.

Tip: You can contact Mr Subramaniam Parking manager for entry related queries, and he also arranges a guide for overseas trekkers.

Once you reach the base of Sathuragiri Hill, you will notice petty shops all around you. If you visit during special occasions, you will find shacks that serve free food to the devotees.

Officials from the Forest department inspect our belongings and give you instructions on the trek etiquette. They also stress on the importance of using the recycle bin for dumping waste on the trail.

To avoid plastic bottle waste, the forest department collects Rs.10 per recyclable water bottle and gives each bottle a tag; when you return from the trek, you can give the tag and collect  the money. This is a good initiative to reduce plastic waste. 

Green Trails Tip: Bring your own reusable water bottles and food packed in lunch boxes to avoid littering on the trail. This way you ensure that you will leave the trail better than you found it.

The Sathuragiri Hill trek begins at the forest check post, where entry passes to the hill are issued. The entrance fee is Rs.10.

After passing through the forest check post, you’ll see a long, winding concrete path surrounded by dense forest. Initially, you will walk on this concrete path till you reach Lord Karupusamy temple.

After a short ascent through stairs, you start on the rugged trail.

Once you cross Lord Karupusamy temple, the trail gradually transforms into an uneven rocky terrain. It first leads you to the Mangani stream.

Soon after you cross the Mangani stream, you will notice that the trail has become rugged. You need to walk cautiously here to reach the first important point on the trek, Vazhukku Parai.

Note: It is important to double-check that your shoes are snugly laced at this point to avoid any missteps.

In Tamil, Vazhukku Parai means “Slippery Rock.” Steps are carved on a rock. While walking through the Vazhukku Parai, you will know why it is called so.
