The Chadar Frozen River Trek – The Story Of How Indiahikes Introduced This Trek In India

Here’s the thrilling backstory of how the founders of Indiahikes introduced the only trek on the Frozen River in India – the Chadar trek

Why Indiahikes Doesn’t Run The Chadar Or Stok Kangri Treks

There are many rumours about why Indiahikes doesn’t do the Chadar or Stok Kangri Treks. Most of them untrue. Here’s the true story of what happened in Ladakh.

Chadar: Trekkers to evacuate immediately

Sliding of loose soil 5.5 kms from Shaday Sumdo forces authorities to close the glamorous trek on frozen Zanskar river. So, trekkers are advised to get in touch with their operators before stepping out

12 must-do treks in 2015!

We’ve picked out a list of 12 of the most beautiful treks in the Himalayas – the best for each month. Choose from trails that pass through frozen rivers and waterfalls; roll over lush green meadows, traverse through dense dark forests, or be blinded by an ocean of flowers. The Himalayas have it all.

What is happening in Ladakh is not okay

Indiahikes has been forced to call off its Chadar trek for the year of 2014. We are up against a strong cartel with heavy political backing and blinded by very shallow self interest. The cartel, known as ALTOA (A collection of tour operators), has declared a boycott against Indiahikes. Local people – the taxi operators, porters, hotels have joined them in the boycott.

Chadar trek called off

On the evening of November 13, 2014 Indiahikes called off Chadar trek. 300 trekkers who had registered for the trek were notified this via email. “I have received close to 60 calls since morning,” said Lopamudra Mandal, from IH Support Team.

Why ALTOA Member’s Facebook Attack Is Vicious And Damaging

Recently one of the members of ALTOA (All Ladakh Travel Operators Association) published a very damaging article about Indiahikes on Facebook. Predictably the internet world went viral with it.

What’s not amusing about the story is that it is complete fabrication.
