Why Kuari Pass is one of the best easy moderate treks!

Kuari Pass is a historic trail which dates back to the 1800’s.  Mt Nanda Devi is one of the most beautiful peak there is and the view from the base camp, Auli sets the tone of the trek. As you go further into this trek, traversing the meadows of Gorson Bugyal, forests of Chitrakantha – the peaks of Garhwal Himalayas open up in front of you in a grand amphitheatre. 1. Hi Swathi,
I am looking for a trek in October – it’s my first and I am wondering if I should take my girls along. They are 7 and 5 yrs. Could you recommend a trek for us ? Are they too young ?
    Best Regards,

    1. Hello Himanshu
We do not suggest you taking your 5-year-old daughter on this trek. Your child must be a minimum of 8-years of age in order to go on a high altitude trek, even an easy one like Kuari Pass. But you can start them off with some day treks around your city. We have documented a lot of treks under our DIY section and they are done so based on different states. You can take a look at them. This will also be a good way to introduce your kids to trekking.

    1. Hi Dharma,
There is usually snow in the second half of December, at altitudes above 10,000 ft – Khullara and places higher than than on the Kuari Pass trek.

  2. Hello Indiahikes team,
I’m planning for Kuari in Oct end, 2018 along with my wife & daughter. She would be 8.5 years. My daughter has done 15+ kms in Karnataka and surroundings and have gone to Sandakfu this year.
Me and my wife are reasonably in good shape. Please advice the kind of preparations for my daughter. Will we see snow in the upper reaches of Kuari in Nov 1st week?

    Regards,
    DDas
