Oct 20, 12.00 p.m.: Students from Jain Vidyalaya travelled all the way from Madurai to the Dayara Bugyal trek in Uttarakhand for an Experiential Learning Programme with Indiahikes. They’re now returning with strong learnings. These students are between 14-17 years of age.
All 20 students in the group were thrilled to travel from South India to Uttarakhand for an adventurous high altitude trek. And they did face some challenges.
“After they started the trek, the temperature dipped and there was a sudden spell of rain. It was a tough day for the students as they had to deal with challenges they were not accustomed to,” shares Prathima Chhabria, Senior Experience Coordinator at Indiahikes.
Fortunately, the sun came up next day as the team moved to Chilapada.
It was a DIY day. Students took up responsibilities to lead the trek and navigate the trail. They enjoyed learning new trekking skills as part of this specially designed programme.
The trek been a memorable experience for the students. They are taking back deep learnings from this experiential learning programme. Their coordinating teacher, Mr Rajesh, was instrumental in making this happen. He strongly believed in the impact that the Indiahikes Experiential Learning Programme can have on the students.
The students are on their way back now. And they are taking back the values of Sustainability, Team Spirit, Humility and Resilience, as was the aim of the Experiential Learning Programme.
