Rupin Pass Photo Contest Results

The Rupin Photo Contest results are out. With great difficulty, we have selected the top three pictures from the fantastic entries sent by trekkers. Our judge, Prashanth UC, an avid trekker and photography expert, shares his thoughts on the winning photographs.

First Prize: Nishanth

1. Nishanth 13th June

The lines, geometric patterns & placement of the subject in the frame make this unique and interesting. On the left hand side of the pillar we have the closed dwelling, kids sweaters indicating the harshness of the weather. The shoe waiting for its owner, gives us the feeling the man/woman of the house is out for earning daily bread. The right hand side is full of life , with 3 kids waiting for their turn to explore the world. The dog is doing what it can do best, guard the house and catch few winks of sleep. Overall a winner.

Second Prize: Arun

RP-PC-Arun Nayak-1 (3696 x 2448) (2772 x 1836)

The star trail, the mountain face & the illuminated tents, make up for a perfect exposure on a harsh chilly night. There stark contrast between the colors of life in the tent surrounded by black , white and grey. An eerie feeling of lively human life in the undiscovered universe This is a work of a perfectionist who has literally spent time out of his comfort zone.

Third Prize: Prateek

Prateek_Jun22_Kinnuar_Kailash (3387 x 1605)

A picture that captures the tranquil of  Himalayas . A gentle green slope against a blue mountain backdrop, with dramatic white clouds coming in, this is riveting to the eye.  A hint of human settlement seen in the form of fences. While nature is about borderless boundless beauty, we get our tranquility by securing it with fences.
