We’ve been feasting our eyes on all the entries we got from trekkers who went to Kashmir Great Lakes, Tarsar Marsar, Pin Bhaba Pass, Bhrigu Lake and Hampta Pass.
We got close to 400 photo entries this month. Our guest judge Vishwas Krishnamurthy has picked out the winners for this month.
But in addition to that, we have a Trekkers’ Choice Award!
Trek Photographer of The Month
Jeff Robson – Valley of Flowers
This photo has got everything going for it. The composition is tight with just the right amount of lighting to set the mood for the photo. Our founder, Arjun Majumdar thinks its a brilliant shot! These massive boulders with the Ganga flowing is quite a different perspective of the Valley of Flowers trek. Judge Vishwas says, “This photo has some lovely framing. The intense sharpness of the boulders creates a dramatic story.”
First Runner Up
Nimesh Mittal – Kashmir Great Lakes
There is something mystical about this shot. The stream in the middle leads your eyes to the clouds hovering over the mountains. Its rare to get such good natural lighting for a photo.
Second Runner Up
Suresh Kerketta – Kashmir Great Lakes
This photo captures the massiveness of the entire Kashmir Great Lakes trek. Our judge Vishwas says, “A good frame, I personally love this stretch between Gadsar and Satsar. Horses walking along with no humans trace in the frame and the beautiful valley in the background. The clouds and sunshine gives the photo an extra colour!”
Trekker’s Choice Award
Sunny Tomar – Kashmir Great Lakes
The trail to Satsar is through a few of the widest meadows. Photographers rarely capture the vastness of these meadows – but here’s a rare angle that captures it. The play of light on the green carpet is the cherry on top!
Subhashis Pal – Bhrigu lake
Look at how the Bhrigu Lake glistens in the sunlight! Can you spot the humans in this photo? Our judge says, “Good technique of foreground, subject and background has been used in this photo. The humans around gives the vastness of the lake.
Anisha – Valley of Flowers
This is truly a different side of the Valley of Flowers trek. It looks rather dramatic! Judge Vishwas says, “While many just see the valley of flowers filled with lush greenery and blossoming flowers, this picture captures another side of the trek. The clouds and the fog make it a quite a dramatic photograph.”
Ramesh Patodia – Kashmir Great Lakes
What great timing to click this photo. This is definitely one of the most creative shots. Judge Vishwas says, “The trekker had some great timing and good sense of perspective while creating this illusion.”
Abhay Chaudhary – Hampta Pass
We love the contrast of the pink against the rocky moraines of Shea Goru. Our judge says, “This photo is the perfect example of something being simple yet so beautiful.”
Amritha Krishnan – Pin Bhaba Pass
The colours you see on this trek always takes us by surprise. Our judge thinks this picture captures the essence of trekking in just one shot.
Jyotirmoy – Kashmir Great Lakes
This photo literally made us go “wow!” This photo managed to capture everything in one frame – the stream, the houses, the mountains and even the moving clouds.
