Can You Get AMS While Descending From High Altitude?
Category Acute Mountain Sickness Hape And Hace Altitude And Health
By Karishma Jayapaul
Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is still a very under-discussed topic. But we want to keep our trekkers well-informed about the possibilities of getting AMS on a high altitude trek.
Most trekkers believe that once they have reached the highest point on the trek, they are not susceptible to AMS. But that’s a myth.
We often hear of trekkers getting AMS while coming down after a successful summit climb. The most likely scenario is that they’ve been ignoring some underlying symptoms of AMS that kicked up much before reaching the summit.
In this episode of Trek Talks With Vishnu Benne, Vishnu talks about this less known side of AMS.
