Phulara Ridge is one of the most unique treks we have in the country. It’s not every day that you come across a ridge walk that’s this long, this beautiful, and this uninterrupted.
Now, unlike some of our other treks that are open all year, Phulara Ridge has a much shorter window. You can’t trek here in every season. But the two windows it does have are nothing short of spectacular.

Trekking Season: Two Stunning Windows
You can do the Phulara Ridge trek in:
- Summer – from May to end of June
- Autumn – from mid-September to end of November
Each season brings out a completely different side of the trail. Here’s what to expect in both.
Summer: May to June

This is when we first set foot on the Phulara Ridge trail. And we remember it clearly.
The snow was just beginning to melt on the ridge. And underneath it, a soft green was starting to push through. It felt like the landscape was waking up.
By the end of May and early June, the meadows turn vibrant. Wildflowers begin to bloom in waves — not just in the forests, but even up on the ridge. It’s a rare sight. You don’t usually see flowers at that altitude.
And then there are the views.
The ridge gives you an open 270-degree panorama. You feel like you’re walking on a high line in the sky. On one side, you have the Swargarohini massif. On the other, peaks like Ranglana and even views opening up into the Devkyara valley.
It’s a fresh, colourful, and dramatic trek in summer. And if you enjoy meadows, flowers, and wide open views — this is your time.
Autumn: Mid-September to November

This is the second window when Phulara Ridge opens up. And the experience is very different from summer.
By mid-September, the monsoon is over. The forests are washed clean and full of life again.
One thing that stands out in this season is the wildlife activity — especially birds. On our exploration, we remember spotting 11 Monals in one day. That’s rare. And it’s a treat for any trekker.
As you move into October and November, the colours begin to shift again. Green turns to gold. Meadows light up in oranges and yellows. You’ll hear the crunch of dry leaves underfoot.
And the skies?
This is the clearest time of the year. Once the post-monsoon haze lifts, you get crystal-clear views of the mountains. Every peak on the horizon stands sharp. If you’re into photography, or if you just want to sit down and take in the views quietly — this is your season.
So, When Should You Go?
Honestly, both seasons bring out a different side of Phulara Ridge.
If you want flowers, new grass, and a landscape full of life — go in summer.
If you want rich forests, golden meadows, and clean, open skies — pick autumn.
Either way, you’re going to experience one of the most unique treks we have in India. Phulara Ridge is not like any other trail. You’re walking on a ridge for hours, with nothing blocking your views. It’s rare. And it’s unforgettable.

Some Frequently asked questions about the Phulara Ridge trek:
- Is the Phulara Ridge a good first Himalyan Trek?
The Phulara Ridge is 4 days long with gradual ascents and each day, you’ll be trekking for an average of 5 hours each on the first two days and longer over the next two days. This means the trek is ideal for a fit beginner.
Having said that, it is still a trek in the Himalayas with difficulties in terrain, temperatures, and weather. Therefore, you must train for at least a month before going on the Phulara Ridge trek. - How fit do I need to be for the Phulara Ridge trek?
A Himalayan trek like Phulara Ridge requires a good fitness level. The trek has long climbs and walks daily. As a measure of your fitness, we need you to:
Run at least 5 km in 35 minutes before your trek. Consistency of your workout also matters, so aim to jog 20 km a week or 80 km in a month. It's a minimum mandatory requirement if you wish to trek with us
OR
Alternatively, cycle for at least 22 km in 60 minutes. Aim to cycle 110 km a week or 440 km in a month. However, running is better suited for your trek preparation.
Once you get confirmed for your trek, we will diligently follow up on your fitness routine. Our team will also assist in putting you through a fitness plan. It will ultimately help you have a safe trek experience.
How to Get Fit for Your Trek - Will I get a mobile network and charging points during the Phulara Ridge Trek?
You will get a Jio network at the base camp but scattered internet connectivity. However, you won’t find any network on the Phulara Ridge Trek.
As per electricity, there are charging points on the basecamp but none on the trek. - How long is the Phulara Ridge trek?
The Phulara Ridge trek typically spans 4 days of trekking and 6 days in total including travel. The trail covers around 26 km and includes forest trails, ridge walks, and open meadows. It’s a compact trek that packs in a huge variety of scenery in just a few days. - Is Phulara Ridge open in winter?
No, the Phulara Ridge trail is not accessible in winter due to heavy snowfall. The trek remains closed from December to April, and reopens in May. Attempting it in snow conditions is unsafe, especially on the narrow ridge walk.
