It’s a big day today. Our first ever group of Gurez Valley trekkers has successfully completed their trek. And they loved it!

This group started the trek on July 27th. They faced bad weather during the first two days of the trek and were forced to take a buffer day at Dison. But after that, the weather cleared. All trekkers successfully completed the trek. Now, they are returning to Srinagar. And their first reactions have started coming in.

We’ve been waiting for this moment ever since we explored the brilliant Gurez Valley trek last year.

“The Gurez Valley valley is lush green and blooming with flowers. It is a sight to behold. Both the lakes (Patalwansar I and II) are huge and look beautiful,” shares Ishita Garg, a trekker from the group.

Trekkers have unanimously loved the experience of trekking in the Gurez Valley.

“This time, we launched the Gurez Valley trek as an Assisted-DIY trek. So apart from enjoying the beauty of the trek, all trekkers enjoyed stepping up and learning DIY skills on the trek,” shares Debadrita Ghosh, Experience Coordinator for the Gurez Valley trek.

“Every day, trekkers took up leadership roles. They learned DIY cooking skills, how to read the weather and take decisions accordingly, and how to prioritize the team’s safety in the high altitude. Taking these decisions and successfully completing the trek has given them the confidence to start trekking on their own,” shares Vishnu Venugopal, Trek Leader of this group.

The next group of the Gurez Valley trek starts on August 7th.

We’re constantly in touch with our teams in Jammu and Kashmir. We’ll keep posting the latest updates here.
