We were thrilled to have over 250 participants in the December 2024 Edition of our Monthly Photo Contest! This month was all about showcasing winter in the mountains, which inspired our trekkers to share breathtaking images of snow-covered peaks, frosted forests, and the unique experience of winter camping. Going through over 1000 photos was a delight, though narrowing them down to the top 10 was a real challenge.

So, without further ado, we're excited to announce the winners of the Indiahikes Monthly Contest: December 2024 Edition!

The Grand Prize Winner 

Brahmatal - Madhuparna Pal

When we talk about winter, Brahmatal is the first trek that comes to mind. While most photos showcase the beauty of the landscape and mountain views in winter, here’s a photo that shows how the trees beautifully blend in with the snow! 

The trek passes through some dense forest sections, and you will be amused by the sight of the Oak and Rhododendron trees soaked in fresh snow.

We are in awe of the perspective with which the photographer has captured this photo, keeping Mt Trishul and Mt Nanda Ghunti in the frame.

Congratulations Madhuparna Pal! You have won the Grand Prize, with a trek voucher from Indiahikes worth Rs 5000, valid until December 2025, and a 32-litre backpack by Adventure Worx, which you can use on all your future treks.

The Runner-Up 

Sandakphu Phalut - Balasubramanyam Mohan

You get to see some of the best sunrises and sunsets in winter. We come across multiple photos that capture the different hues, while the sun is rising. But rarely do we get to see a photo that captures the contrast in the landscape beautifully! While the sun is slowly emerging, in the background, the foreground is still covered with frosted snow. The photo has been clicked at the right moment which makes it special!

Congratulations Balasubramanyam Mohan! You have won the Runner-Up Prize, and you will be getting an Indiahikes Trek Voucher of Rs. 3,000 valid until December 2025.

The Trekkers Choice Award 

Sandakphu Phalut - Upendra Kulkarni

The biggest reason to do the Sandakphu Phalut trek is the grand views of the big mountains. It offers the breathtaking experience of seeing four of the world's tallest peaks. Here’s a classic view of the Sleeping Buddha, beautifully covered in Alpen glow.

Congratulations Upendra Kulkarni! You have won the Trekker’s Choice Award and a Goodie Bag from Indiahikes. Your photo got the maximum number of votes from the trekkers!
